Instructor Name: Caitlin Goddard
Classes Taught at the Fit Co: MamaFit, MamaLates
Hometown: Stow, MA
Tell us about your first workout class. Who was the instructor, where was the class, what was it like for you?
I started dancing when I was 7. I started Pilates in college where I was a dancer. The instructor was the ballet teacher there, a really nice Swiss woman with a thick accent who was really focused on overly exaggerated Pilates breathing. It definitely encouraged hyperventilation, but it got me to connect with my abdominals in a way I never had before.
What is your instructor mission statement?
To instill a joy in fitness that encourages my clients to love their bodies and inspires them to do more awesome stuff.
What can participants expect when they come to your class?
I feel like Octo-Mom when I'm teaching MamaFit, because I'm a mom, too. So first and foremost, I am committed to ensuring all my MamaFit moms who make it to class get an excellent workout. I bounce and juggle babies, rock strollers, demo exercises, run around shouting motivations, and I'm always ready to switch things up if the babies get fussy staying in one spot.
What is your go to before workout snack? After workout?
I love NutriBullet smoothies before a workout with a couple handfuls of greens & some frozen fruit, or a LaraBar. Afterward, I'm generally starving, so I try to keep hard boiled eggs in my fridge at home.
What’s your favorite exercise? Why?
I love good glute exercises, like walking lunges and step ups on the park bench. I've been teaching Pilates for over a decade, so I also love strong core exercises like planks & side planks.
What or who is your spirit animal?
The elephant is my spirit animal- they are loyal animals with long memories, and they stay with their families for generations.
One surprising thing most people don’t know about you?
I started pole fitness when I was already past 30. After a few years of intense training, I could do things I never dreamed my body could be capable of -believe me, no one was more surprised by my achievements than me. I performed nationally and internationally, and even was featured dancing on “Law & Order SVU.”
If you could teach a class with any live band or musician who would you teach to?
Haha- I like 90’s hip-hop, but these days, it's Kidz Bop!
